FORMAC

FORMAC or FOrmula MAnipulation Compiler was developed by Jean Sammet at IBM's Boston Advanced Programming Department in July 1964. It was developed as a practical system for doing formal mathematical manipulation on IBM 7090/94 machines. FORMAC performed formal algebraic cabability associated with an existing numerical mathematical language, FORTRAN.
