Microprocessor
In the final year of the third generation, the first microprocessor was developed by Intel. It was known
as the 4004 and was originally designed for a high performance programmable calculator. It has 2300
MOS transistors and can execute 60,000 operations a second, address 1280 half-bytes of data and 4K bytes of programmed
instructions. Its actual size is 0.110 X 0.150 inches.
