General Description: This was Digital's first 16 bit computer. This machine was designed to be compatible with the different Digital architectures. It was the first minicomputer to incorporate all system elements, the processor, memory, and peripherals. There were four generations of PDP-11 systems built. They ranged from small 4-user systems to 64-user machines. Currently, there are more than half a million PDP-11 systems still in operation.
