Over the past dozen years I
have made numerous things for “show and tell” and collected hundreds of
artifacts to be passed around the room. This part of the site will be
expanded during summer 2001.
- Napier’s bones can be made
from tongue depressors!
- Slide rule creation can
be demonstrated by using two meter sticks.
- A binary adder (after George
Stibitz) can be fashioned from two used telephone relays, a battery,
a bulb, a little wire, and a switch (which can be made out of a piece
of tin can)
- Other things to collect:
abacus, mechanical adding machines, parts of old computers, old magazines
on computing topics
